About Us

Team Albatross is the Official Regular Class Aero Design team of VIT University, founded in 2016 by a group of aero-enthusiasts. The team unites engineers keen to be skilled in RC aircraft designing and manufacturing. Our goal is to enrich the student educational experience by providing a learning environment to work on world-class aero design challenges. Each year we have our eyes set out to perform at the international level and come through with flying colours.

Team Albatross has emerged to be victorious and celebrated triumphs in various national and international competitions. Every year we aim to surpass previous ventures by bringing in innovations and unique features. Every slip and snag in the path add on to the vigour, pushing us to excel in the aero design challenges. Our 2020 flagship, Bluebolt, stood 1st in Asia-Pacific and 7th Worldwide. Firefly, our momentous creation, bagged the 2nd position in the Asia-Pacific and ranked 8th Worldwide.

Our Story

The very first aircraft built by the team was just a passion project envisioned by fellow friends. After multiple attempts and scrutiny, the resounding results marked the journey of Team Albatross into the fast lane of UAV designing. Elicitation and guidance from our seniors have constantly pushed us to improvise on our techniques whilst solving challenges that trigger up our brain. Team members go above and beyond their core curriculum, spending their spare time refining their skills for competency. We take it to our heart to achieve the dream of ‘Scaling the Infinite’. Our Vision

As a young team aspiring to achieve great heights in the field of aeronautics, we strive to design, build and fly payload-lifting RC aircraft to meet a specified set of configurations and mission requirements. Team Albatross aims for a world-class standard by combining knowledge, research and innovation. Our goal is to create an erudite learning environment for students to upskill themselves in the fields of aerodynamics and aviation. The skills that students inculcate during their tenure in the team prepare them to succeed in the industry like no other undergraduate course. Team Albatross is a place that nurtures not just technical competence but also interpersonal skills.
